The report, which was based on interviews in Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Thetford, Runcorn and Widnes, found that the concept of integration was not understood. Respondents believed it simply meant immigrants were to become "like us", the authors said.

外国人がその国になじんでいくということは、自分たちのようになることだ、と誤解している人が多い、と。
Anecdotal evidence suggested many felt refugees and single mothers could more easily find a council house than working people whose families had lived in the area for generations. Focus group members said when white people complained, they were told the system was fair and their concerns were racist.

個人の体験談から、移民のほうが優遇されているんではないか、という噂がひろまっている、と。
まあ、全体として、歯切れが悪い記事。要するに、白人の不満が高まっているが、忌憚のない意見の交流が重要である、ということに留まって、ほじゃ、外国人がその国になじみ、同化・統合されるってどいうこと？あるは、ほんまに移民は優遇されていないの？という疑問には答えていない。
いずれにせよ、底辺で問題が深刻化しているような気もする。
