Racially charged fight disrupts high schoolFeb 26, 2009
The initial fight started during lunch when a white student used racial slurs towards a black student, according to police.
School staff responded immediately and ended the fight, Moses with the school district said.
"This was a fairly isolated incident between two students," Moses said. "The minute that altercation occured, it was responded to immediately by campus security and North administration."
Both students contacted their families after the fight. The 15-year-old white boy's family arrived at the school before police.
Police and school officials say the father approached three black students who were not involved in the earlier fight.
Both police and school officials say the father started using racial slurs towards the student.
"That was heard by a number of North Eugene students," Moses said, "who quickly banded together and displayed their feelings about racist remarks being made on the schoolg rounds, which is clearly a violation of school policy."
Police say the mother and father assaulted two of the three youths, while a third adult family member got in a fight. Police say no weapons were used, only fists.

TORONTO — Police in Toronto are investigating after racist hate mail was delivered to the Ontario office of the Canadian Federation of Students.
The federation says the mail was received late last month following the launch of its province-wide task force to study racism on college and university campuses.
The envelope contained a recent editorial cartoon from the New York Post that was accused of having racist overtones, and a picture of federation representative Hildah Otieno, a student from Kenya.

Professor faces charges over racist posts on Internet
KIRK MAKIN
March 6, 2009
A Federal Court of Canada motion served on Mr. Tremaine alleges that anti-Semitic, racist material posted on websites by Mr. Tremaine - including a description of Jews as "highly-evolved parasites" - contravenes a 2007 cease-and- desist order issued by a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
Mr. Warman alleges in an affidavit that since the tribunal's decision, Mr. Tremaine's postings have disparaged immigrants and predicted that "the brown masses" will rise up and destroy Jews.
