東日本大震災の日、東京の大使館にいた。不眠不休で、日本に滞在する自国民の安否確認に奔走した。原発事故で、関西に大使館を移す案もあった。
「被災地の惨状を見て息苦しくなり、心が沈んだ。何一つ罪のない人々が亡くなったことが、私の中でアウシュビッツの悲劇と重なりました」
伯父は政治犯としてナチスドイツに捕まり、アウシュビッツの収容所で命を落とす。自らの記憶と震災が交差し、昨夏に能の台本を書き終えた。都内で５日、『鎮魂』と名付けた台本の朗読会を開く。
震災で子を失い、福島から収容所を訪れた日本人が、その地で死んだポーランド人の霊（シテ・主役）と会う。２人は語り合い、死者を悼む。夢幻能と言われる形式となる。
ワルシャワ大で日本語を学び、世阿弥研究の著作もある。昨年２月には自作の能を上演した。「惨事から目をそらさず、心中深く思う。そこに国民の違いはない」と、ポーランドでも新作を上演する予定だ。「能は日本だけのものではない。人類のための鎮魂の芸術です」（文化部 塩崎淳一郎）

The ethnicity figures show that despite Britain becoming a more diverse society, many people only meet others of the same ethnicity. The least mixing appears to take place at school or nursery – only 15% of white people meet other races there, and only a third of other groups.
The older you are, the less likely you are to mix too – 52% of over-75s say they mix with other ethnicities, the lowest of any age group. By contrast, the greatest amount of mixing takes place with young people: 92% of 16- to 24-year-olds say they regularly mix with other ethnicities, mostly in pubs and nightclubs.

南京事件を否定した自らの発言について、河村たかし名古屋市長は２日の名古屋市議会で「３０万人もの非武装の中国市民を大虐殺したことはないと思っており、発言は撤回しない」と述べ、改めて発言の撤回には応じない姿勢を示した。共産党の鷲野恵子市議の質問に答えた。
鷲野市議は「市長の発言が外交問題に発展しており、国内の輸出や観光など地域経済にも影響が出ている。謝罪して撤回すべきだ」と問いただした。これに対して、河村市長は先月２７日の記者会見で発表した発言撤回を拒否するコメントを再び引用した上で、今後の対応について「南京市と率直な議論ができ、友好が進むよう願っている」と強調した。
河村市長はこれまで、歴史認識をめぐって南京市側に公開討論を持ちかけている。今回の発言についても在名古屋中国総領事館の張立国総領事らに自ら真意を説明したいとしているが、会談は実現していない。

Another factor is the country’s abortion rate - an average of 54 abortions per 1,000 women - which is the highest in the world, according to United Nations figures.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Yury Krupnov, director of Moscow’s Institute of Demography, Migration, and Regional Development, pointed out that Russia combined a low birth rate with an unusually high mortality rate for an industrialised country.
"The crux of the problem is shown in the abnormally high death rate for men in the prime of life," he said. "In Russia, the death rate at 35 is seven times higher than that in the European Union."
Life expectancy for men is 62, according to World Health Organisation statistics or at least 15 years less than in most industrialised nations. Life expectancy for women is 74.

Chinese cyber specialists hacked into highly sensitive NASA’s JPL lab

Nothing seems to be really safe from Chinese hackers. The question is who is really behind. This is especially important since they hacked into one of the most important NASA computers – Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
Chinese deleted highly sensitive US space technology files and probably stole many too.
This latest incident shows how dangerous Chinese cyber attacks are. Many security and defense experts believe that the Chinese military stands behind. Obama administration would not confirm that.
“The attackers had full functional control over these networks,” Paul K. Martin, NASA’s inspector general, concludes.
According to Fox News, JPL is a jewel in NASA's space technology crown.
“In 2010 and 2011, NASA reported 5,408 computer security incidents that resulted in the installation of malicious software on or unauthorized access to its systems,” his report states. “These incidents spanned a wide continuum from individuals testing their skill to break into NASA systems, to well-organized criminal enterprises hacking for profit.”

According to media reports, in another successful attack against a NASA agency detailed in the OIG report, intruders stole a laptop computer that contained algorithms used to command and control the International Space Station (ISS).
"Some of these intrusions have affected thousands of NASA computers, caused significant disruption to mission operations, and resulted in the theft of export-controlled and otherwise sensitive data, with an estimated cost to NASA of more than $7 million," Martin wrote, Fox reports.
NASA claims that they are aware of the problem and taking steps to improve its computer security programs.

WASHINGTON, March 2 (UPI) -- Hackers targeting NASA gained access to employee credentials and took control of systems at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, the agency says.
A report by the space agency's inspector general, Paul K. Martin, cited one case involving hackers with IP addresses in China who gained "full system access" to change or delete sensitive files and user accounts for "mission-critical" systems at JPL, CNN reported Friday.
"In other words," Martin said, "the attackers had full functional control over these networks."
In another incident hackers stole credentials for about 150 NASA employees, his report said.
Forty-seven sophisticated cyberattacks, dubbed "advanced persistent threats," occurred in 2011 with 13 of the attacks successfully compromising NASA computers, the report said.
"The individuals or nations behind these attacks are typically well organized and well funded and often target high-profile organizations like NASA," Martin said in his report.
"These incidents spanned a wide continuum from individuals testing their skill to break into NASA systems, to well-organized criminal enterprises hacking for profit, to intrusions that may have been sponsored by foreign intelligence services seeking to further their countries' objectives," he said.
NASA investigations over the last five years have resulted in the arrests of foreign nationals from China, Great Britain, Italy, Nigeria, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Estonia, CNN reported.
